CRISIS ADDICTS

UNIQUE FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

What I'm learning about my own fellow citizens is that we are a nation of crisis addicts.  I believe we have lost our sense of what is right and true, as well as, what is appropriate social behavior.  We crave and indulge in minor petty skirmishes so we feel we have actually done something when it's over. Our attention spans are at an all time low, while our judgements of others, at an all time high. We consume and consume and consume, making obesity and diabetes household words.  Nothing makes us feel better so we go to war, under the misguided impression that it will fix things if we can fix an entire society on the other side of the world, by force. It takes our minds off of ourselves superficially, but it doesn't satisfy for long. Now we are not only dissatisfied, but also broke, confused and lonely.  All we are left with is ourselves and the reality of the mess we've created with our choices. Think about it: Congress had an 11% approval rating and we gave 96% of them, their jobs back.  This is the group whose lies, duplicity, naked greed and outright irresponsibility, drove our economy off a cliff and we just matter-of-factly, but them back in charge after President Obama goes out on a limb to repair their mess, and does so in record time.  We are enjoying record stock figures, lowest gas prices in ages, and 6% unemployment, while the auto industry and the housing markets are making a comeback, so what do we do?  We turn the whole thing, in a bright, shiny package, all ready to carry us forward, into the hands of the guys who ran it into the ditch, in the first place.  Frankly, it's insulting to President Obama and everyone else who has worked so hard to get us back on the right track.  It's heartbreaking to see our new, fresh, shiny, fragile social structure being taken away into the darkness again, only to be abused and neglected and used for personal profiteering.  It won't ever be different as long as we keep making the same foolish, misguided choices.  We'll just keep treading water while the world passes us by and our children will be left scratching their heads and wondering why.
