A DISCIPLINE OF SEEING

UNIQUE FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

As we walk through this life, our desires lead us to the realization of ourselves and alignment with our true nature. To shun or resist our desires is to put our journey to the Self on pause. However, in Western Culture we are often taught that desire is something to conquer or avoid, something to force yourself to NOT have, because resistance, we are told, is more noble or more holy.  The opposite is actually true because we cannot align the two aspects of ourselves through denial of the Self. When we deprive ourselves of this alignment we begin to collect small resentments over things we perceive, didn't work out. Whereas, if we cultivate a discipline of seeing, we develop the ability to overlook perceived failures, as we know things are always working out in our favor, even if it doesn't appear so in a given moment. This is where our expectation is formed. If we become disappointed by not getting what we desire in the way we are invested in receiving it, we begin to have negative expectations in an attempt to not be disappointed again, yet to live this way is disappointing in itself. Nothing ever turns out differently than we expect, as expectation is desire mixed with belief. We may think otherwise, but it is impossible, so we must look within our beliefs for the answer and adjust our beliefs for a solution. Once we are in control of how we feel, our sight deepens and our expectations shift to being positive.  I recently heard the expression, "Do you know why the Native American Rain Dance worked? Because they wouldn't stop dancing until it rained." When we decide to cultivate positive expectations, we shift our consciousness into vibrational alignment with our Highest Self or our Divine Nature. Now we are free to live joyfully in the present, unburdened by the past.
