CLARITY OF INTENTION IS ESSENTIAL

I have always thought one's intention was shaped by his beliefs which in turn, motivated his actions.  I was taught to be clear about my intentions, thereby facilitating an ease, or at least a confidence in my choices, leading me toward a fulfilling life.

Therefore, it continues to astonish me when, in a relationship with someone, either work, friendship or otherwise, my character is scrutinized for signs of manipulation and assumptions made which do not even remotely reflect my intentions or actions.

I'm finding, after years of knowing someone, consisting of many examples of my love for him, putting my own needs and personal progress aside to help him achieve what he wanted because I honestly felt it important to see him well, happy and safe, he doesn't perceive any of my efforts in the way intended.

There is no changing the way someone perceives us, no matter what we do, or mean, or intend.  However one has decided we are, we are forever this way in his eyes.

I grew up in an environment where those around me thought the best of me, believed my intentions were honorable, my character respectful and my actions, fueled by a desire to be better.  My home was filled with love and respect, while I was taught to help those in need, look to my own attitude for the source of my difficulties and to embrace life with a gentle graciousness and appreciation.

People I have known for ten years and more, have so quickly and decidedly turned on me, informing me of an extremely low opinion of me, which took me quite by surprise as I had thought we were on a similar path and brought to the friendship much that benefitted us both.

Since I firmly believe no two people ever come together for the benefit of only one of them, I treasure what I've learned from everyone I've walked with along my path and I still love each of them for the beautiful discoveries I've made, expanding my consciousness, because of their presence in my experience, in whatever form.

Be at peace with yourself,
for ultimately,
what you know you are,
what you know you intend,
who you are in your life,
is only known to you.
